We take the kids apple picking every fall when apples are at peak. They love it. I then make pies with my oldest (not pictured) for Thanksgiving and Christmas and freeze them. I also usually get some apple sauce or an extra “skillet pie” for a dinner party.
When I have left over chard stems, and just a few of everything from the garden on a given day, pasta primavera is the way to go. This one has some cut beans, one ear of corn, chard, squash, and parsley. You’ll also need garlic, white wine, butter, and maybe some veg stock. And, of course, Parm!
Same as a regular quick tomato sauce, but start with bacon then saute some red onions in the bacon fat. Go from there. And, I usually put in some chili flake to make it a little spicy.
